Obituary for Mathew "Mat" Coerper

Mathew “Mat” Scott Coerper, of White Salmon, WA, passed away December 22nd, 2018 in The Gorge in which he grew up.

Mat was born September, 11th 1986, in the Dalles, Oregon to Walter Coerper and Jodi (Goodenough) Coerper.

He attended Hood River Valley High School and Lane community College.

He was an avid food enthusiast, lover of hikes and fixed gear cycling. A wine connesuer and master of debate. Mat was a very hard-worker, devoted to his craft; a true artist; a loyal friend; dependable brother; and loving son.

He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He could diffuse a situation with just a look and his conversations left you feeling better about yourself.

He was survived by his parents Walter and Jodi, his brothers Adam, Christian, and Connor, his baby niece Ellaline and soon expecting nephew, Sutter.

He was preceded in death by; his grandparents, Jack and Betty Coerper, Don and Maxine Goodenough; aunt, Starla Goodenough; and Uncle Daren McCafferty.

The service for Mathew will be held at Anderson’s Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Ave, Hood River, OR 97031) on Sunday, December 30th at 1pm. Please join us in a continued sharing and celebration at the Rockford Grange (4262 Barrett Dr., Hood River, OR 97031). Memorials can be made to Anderson’s for Mat’s family.
