Life Story for Lila Mary Cochran

Lila Mary Meyers Cochran, passed on Nov 8th, 2018, at Providence Hospital, in Portland, Oregon. Her granddaughter, Amber McMillan, was with her when she passed.

Lila was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Yakima, WA, to Merton and Mary (Mayfield) Meyers. She lived her earlier years in Yakima, WA and then moved to the Hood River Valley.

While the family lived in Hood River, Lila attended Mt. Hood and Parkdale schools, from Elementary through High School. She was a Homemaker, but through the years also seasonally worked in the packing house, at Diamond Fruit Growers.

On Nov 11, 1952, she married Floyd Cochran, at Stevenson, WA, making their home in Parkdale. They had met through Floyd’s brother, George Cochran. 5 children were born to them: Teresa, Terry, David, Dan, and Don.

Lila was devoted to her family, sewing clothes for her children, as they grew. Always had a large garden, canning endless fruits, vegetables and even some meat, in order to provide for her family. She was a great cook and was an avid baker, baking cookies, pies, cakes and her specialty of maple bars and cinnamon rolls. If someone needed help, whether providing food, babysitting or whatever was needed, she was there to assist. Lila was active in church, teaching Sunday school, setting up and assisting with church potlucks. She was all about family and lived for her kids and grandchildren and could be quite a cut up.

Lila is survived and will be dearly missed by three children: Teresa (husband Bruce) Bell, of Gresham, OR, Don (wife Dianna) Cochran, Hood River, OR and David (wife Jeanette) Cochran, of Hood River, OR.

Also surviving are by nine grandchildren: Andrea, Christina, Shawn, Kara, Ryan, Natalie, James, Amber and Pat: great grandchildren: Natasha, Nicole, Olive, Niya, Mikah, Kehinde, Benjamin, Isaac, Erika, Mason, Cale, Jordan and Julian: siblings Carol Webb, of Tygh Valley, Majil Deel, of Portland, Gay Stewart, of Terrebonne and Jess Meyers, of Tygh Valley, as well extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death, by her husband Floyd and sons Terry and Dan.

Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031 (541)386-1000.
