Obituary for James "Scotty" Sullivan

James Scott Sullivan (Scotty), 32, passed away on Sept 26, 2021. Scott was born on Sept 18, 1989, to James Sullivan and Stacy Trammel in Vancouver, WA.

As a child and student of the River View Panthers, Scott loved sports. He wore #1 when he played football and nearly perfected the sport of wrestling, to which he won several awards and placed very well at state multiple years. His coach said this about him; "I am proud to have been his wrestling coach, even prouder to have been his friend. He always had that smile, it was infectious. I will miss him deeply. The next NCAA wrestling finals will not be the same without him, his knowledge, and his smile..."

As a young man, hunting and fishing became his passion. He had an impressive bugle and would have never been accused of being a road-hunter, as he would routinely hike 10 miles or more a day throughout the hills of eastern Oregon in pursuit of wild game. Some have even suggested he was part elk himself! He once chased after a cougar with a baseball bat with not a shred of fear. It would have been a bad day for that cougar had he gotten a hold of it! He had the strength, courage, determination, and prowess of a tiger.

Those that knew him can agree, he may have been tough to motivate and stubborn in his ways, but once he was ready, with his determination, nothing was going to stop him! He was a heck of a roofer, was always learning new skills, and was a former soldier in the US Army. He loved spending time with family and friends, whether it be a road trip, the back porch, or off-roading in the woods, he always found a way to make it fun.
Scott was loved by so, so, many. His laughter was incredibly cheerful and his smile was highly contagious. It was filled with so much happiness and warmth, mixed with a little deviousness. His smile could light up the darkest of rooms on any given day. Many people were blessed with his presence over the years. Many stories were made that will be told for decades to come. He was dearly loved and will be sincerely missed.

He is survived by his father, James (Danny) with significant other Trish, and mother Stacy, his awesome siblings, Chanse, Josh, Austin, Gage, Tifani, Jessica, Mackenzie, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandparents, and amazing friends. He is preceded in death by his brother John. His next of kin are his 7 dogs that have been rehomed to loving families.

A private service will be announced at a later date.
