Obituary for Jade Emmons

Jade Emmons died by suicide on July 26, 2023 after suffering with mental illness for many years. Jade Carrizo Emmons was welcomed into this world by his loving family on August 8, 2005. Jade loved the Hood River Valley, and he took full advantage of the beauty and adventure of the outdoor world. Jade loved backpacking, fishing, hunting, and driving the forest roads of Hood River County. He loved animals and they loved him.

Jade graduated in June from Hood River Valley High School and was very excited to attend Oregon State University, Cascades in Bend this September. Jade was passionate about so many different topics. These included music, comedy, geography, history, biology, art, baking and writing. He was talented at working with his hands and helped family, friends, and his co-workers fix whatever was broken.

Jade was a very hard worker. He took great pride in his work ethic. Jade loved exploring and was able to travel throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and South Korea. Jade played many sports as a young person, but found his true love in weight-lifting. He spent countless hours studying nutrition and anatomy as he lifted massive amounts of weight. Jade grew into a very strong man through discipline, passion, and hard work.

Jade was loved by so many people. He left our family, friends, and this world a better place. We are grateful to the many gifts Jade gave us that included so much joy, fun and love. We are devastated by the loss of our amazing son and brother. We are very thankful for the countless people who have shown us much loving kindness.

Jade is survived by his proud parents, Brent and Shawnie Emmons, loving siblings, Denali, Muir, and Lyric, grandparents, Bill and Caroline DeBorde, Kay Emmons, and Janet Emmons. Jade had many aunts and uncles and cousins spread throughout our country. He was particularly close to his Uncle Derek and Aunt Caree DeBorde and cousins Max, Leah, and Jackson, who lived just down the road. Jade’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 13 at 2:00 PM in the Hood River Valley High School Gym in Hood River, Oregon.
