Obituary for Floyd Eugene Miller

Floyd Eugene Miller passed away on January 14, 2020 at his home in The Dalles, Oregon. Floyd was born on September 23, 1941 and was 78 years of age at the time of his passing.

Floyd was born in Parkdale, Oregon to Alfred D. and Augusta (Barylien) Miller, he always told everyone he was born “in the turkey coup” on the farm. He grew up in the Upper Valley, graduated from Wy’East High School and joined the military. He served proudly in the United States Army and was the first troop to guard along the Berlin Wall.

He loved his sports; from the Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Braves and Portland Trailblazers were his teams. Floyd loved country western music and thought there was no better singer than Tanya Tucker.

Floyd lived in Parkdale, Odell and Hood River growing up. He worked locally for Diamond Fruit and then moved to Hermiston, Oregon and went to work for J.R.Simplot until retiring when he moved back to The Dalles.

He married Karen Lucas, they had three children; Timothy, Kimberly and Paula. Floyd and Karen later divorced.

Floyd is survived by three children; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren (and another on the way); six siblings; and an abundance of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Memorial services with military honors are planned for 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24th, 2020 at Anderson's Tribute Center • Celilo Chapel 204 E. 4th Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Celebrant Speaker, Timothy Willis will lead Floyd’s service and military honors performed by the Oregon Army Honors Team. Floyd’s urn committal will be when weather permits at The Upper Valley Parkdale Cemetery (6917 Allen Road, Parkdale, Oregon, 97041).
