LIFE STORY

Charlott Jones passed away May 14th, 2021 at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.

Charlott was born in Hood River, Oregon on March 16th 1942 to Harold M. & Wanda I. (Croan) Wells. She grew up on her family's fruit ranch in Pine Grove Oregon, surrounded by close and extended family. She was the oldest of three children having two younger brothers; Forrest & Bernie.
Growing up, her family was very active in outdoor activities and family was very important to them. Spending time in the outdoors was a requirement and there was established a love for Mt. Hood in all their hearts to this day.
On October 5th, 1964, Charlott married Richard Dale Jones Jr. The couple lived in Seattle, Washington, as well as Hayward California before settling in Sherwood, Oregon, in 1969. The couple welcomed their only child, a daughter, they named Jennapher Janae "Jenna" on July 23, 1979.

In Sherwood, Charlott worked as a Journeyman checker at the local grocery store (Food Pavillion / Zupans), she also worked for years and years at the Old Mill Flower Studio, which is where she learned her amazing love and talent for flowers. Charlott was always involved with community or church events, or events with Jenna's school or the American Legion which allowed her to make many lifelong friends. In 1989, Dick was diagnosed with cancer and after a short battle, he passed away that November.

Charlott remained in Sherwood until 1994 when she returned to her beloved Hood River Valley. Upon returning, she began packing fruit at her relative's packing house (Walter Wells & Sons). She eventually stopped packing and began working winters at Cooper Spur Ski Area running the "snack bar". She thoroughly enjoyed that and enjoyed watching all the kids grow up over the years. Her final and possibly favorite job was working in the farm stand and being the florist for The Gorge White House with Camille Hukari & Jerry Tausend.

Charlott loved to travel and was able to go on a trip to Austria with Jerry & Camille, and that was a highlight of her life. She was also very proud of the 2 solo trips she took back to Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and NC to chase her love of Civil War history as well as family history. Charlott's passion was genealogy and history, if anyone needed to know something she was a go-to person. She was very involved online with family history and other history groups. She was a daily commentator on the "Hood River History" page.

Charlott adored working in her garden, making gorgeous counted cross stitch, crafting just about anything, watching Nascar and football. Patrick Mahomes was "Her boy"!

Charlott went to heaven to be with all her family that went before her on May 14th 2021 Jenna was by her side at the time of her passing.

Charlott is survived by her daughter Jennapher "Jenna" Jones of Hood River, OR, Her adopted daughter Kelly Mellinger and her family of Sherwood, OR, 2 brothers Forrest (Laurel) Wells of Keizer, OR, Bernie (Carol) Wells of Hood River, OR, Sister-in-Law Ellen Anthony of Hood River, OR. as well as 5 Nieces and Nephews and several Great Nieces. She was "Nonni" to Kelly's 2 children Clara & Avery and Kenneth Lamb.
She has left an enormous hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed, but we know she is in Heaven surrounded by God's most beautiful gardens.

A private urn committal will be held at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery of Hood River, Oregon and a public celebration of life date, time & location will be announced soon.
