Condolence From: Peggy Bradley Gaston
Condolence: I am so very sorry for your loss. "Zed" and my mother Marie Bradley were such good friends and co-workers at the Hood River Memorial Hospital. I always looked forward to seeing her smile. After graduation, Nanette and I became good friends like our mothers. She was a very special lady. Both mother and her loved Nursing. They wore their Nursing School caps with pride. She will be missed but will always be in our hearts.

Condolence From: Ellen (Light) House
Condolence: I have thought of Zelda so many times over the years since I moved from the area. She was amazing. As a nurse's aide under Zelda's supervision she encouraged me to follow my dream of becoming a nurse. It took many years for me to reach that goal but Zelda was the first one I sent a letter to signed Ellen Greer RN, with a photo in my cap with a single black stripe and a copy of the award for academic excellence I had received at graduation. She sent me the sweetest card of congratulations on becoming one of "Zelda's kids that earned the right to wear that cap". Every year on nurses day I would wear those white scrubs with my cap to honor Zelda Stanton, RN She was a patient teacher to those of us who wanted to learn, the most kind and gentle nurse providing care to her patients, she might be bone tired but never did she not help us with the "dirty" duties of nursing, she was strong enough to cry with families when the end came for their family member and soft enough to give a gentle hug to other workers when we needed it. In my years of practice I often would stop and ask just what Zelda would do in a tough situation. I may sound pretty soft when it came to Zelda but you see she was my hero, my teacher, my kind spot to run to when life was hard, she was such a classy lady and just the kind of nurse (and person) I wanted to be like when I grew up.

Zelda epitomized nursing though she carried no lantern as Florence Nightingale did to care for her patients, you can be sure she carried the light on her rounds, but her light came from her heart and soul. Zelda Stanton RN brought light to all who were in the dark.

Condolence From: Pat & Sue Moore
Condolence: Zelda was just simply part of the valley, and knowing she's no longer here leaves an empty spot. I loved the times when we bumped into each other and spent some time chatting. We'll have to miss her service, but we're thinking of you all.
