Life Story for Eugene "Gene" Burch

Eugene "Gene"  Burch
Eugene “Gene” Burch passed away April 20th, 2017 at the Oregon Veteran’s Home in The Dalles, Oregon. Gene was born February 21, 1926 and was 91 years of age at the time of his passing.

Gene was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Minnie Frances (Maheffy) Burch. In February of 1945 Gene joined the Army and served in World War II. After serving in the war Gene worked as a machinist where he helped build the parts for the first lunar mission rocket.

On August 26, 1966 Gene married Thelma Potter in Denver, Colorado. Together they raised two children.

Gene is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Thelma Burch of Hood River, Oregon; children, Bryan Burch of Portland, Oregon; Brenda and husband, Robert Sanchez of Hood River, Oregon; sister, Ruth Spaeth of Frankfurt, Kentucky; granddaughter, Electra Curl and her husband David; and grandson, Daniel Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers (Finley, Earl & Lawrence) and two sisters (Mary & Martha).

Services are planned to honor Gene life and mourn his passing 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Friends are invited to greet with family during a time of viewing Wednesday evening from 4pm to 6pm also at Anderson’s. Gene will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery of Hood River.
