Condolences

Condolence From: Amy Cagle
Condolence: My Uncle Tommy was a husband, father, soldier and a very hard worker. He was also an artist. He created a home for his family that was at least part magic garden and I was allowed to play there over many years of my childhood. From the stone wall and steps in front leading up to the road (I lost a tooth in a fresh picked apple on those stairs) to the various trees and bushes (including raspberries, where we picked fruit for Aunt Lydia's raspberry jam that I still talk about to this day) and, of course, the horses and the pond (my first taste of frog legs).

He always acted happy to see my brothers and I show up, no matter how long and hard he had worked that day or all the previous week. He shared apple/pear/cherry and berry picking, teaching technique and checking the ladder's stability. He shared stories while we sat in front of the fire, the adults sipping homemade wine.

I can still see him strolling across our back yard in Parkdale in his overalls. I can hear the crack and pop of the apples that had no chance against his wooden apple press and his brute strength. I will always hear his laughter in the tree branches.

Condolence: Marvin aka "Tommy" you welcomed our family when we moved to Lippman Road back in 1970 and you always treated us as your family. Your kindness and wisdom will always be with us and you will be dearly missed. Until we meet again.
