Obituary for John Love

John Love
John Douglas Love passed away in his Hood River, Ore., home March 12, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Of German and Scottish extraction, John grew up in West Virginia with two brothers the sons of a preacher. He was married to Margaret Love, his wife of 65 years, who he met while in the Air Force and stationed in Germany.

He loved a good glass of wine, meals with friends, and travel. A member of the Hood River Elks, John was a regular Friday evening fixture and always had a full table of family and friends join him. He and Marge spent many years overseas and traveling while he was employed as a planning engineer.
He moved to Hood River after retirement from the aerospace business. He and Marge then built Love’s Riverview Lodge, a motel on Oak Street that they ran for a number of years until they eventually sold it.
His sons, David, Dana and Dale, and their respective spouses, MaryAnn, Denise and Wanda, survive him.

A celebration of John’s life will be included in the 10 a.m. Sunday service at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 305 Ninth St., Hood River.
