Obituary for Peter Bryner

Peter Bryner
We lost someone special last weekend. And when I say we all, I mean all, as in the world. A son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew. A friend, a co-worker, a partner in adventure (or crime). A collaborator. A jokester. A source of genuine compassion, intelligence, talent, and laughter. Someone with the drive and ability to change the world for the better. An innovator. A dreamer. Peter William Clifford Bryner spent his last moments in the natural world he loved at Mt. Hood, on February 22, 2015. Peter was born on June 26, 1990, and spent 24 years creating, exploring and gifting us his light. From Legos to bikes, scotch tape to duct tape, doodling to design, Peter turned his childhood talents into a career and a way of life. His peace came from rock climbing, bicycling and camping, all of which he documented through super artsy, double-exposed photographs. Peter was always pushing himself to be better. He had many facets, including the solitary facet, the pensive facet, and the not-so-popular butthead facet. His enthusiasm, humor, and charm were magnetic. Pete could always be trusted to approach life's challenges with grace and a light heart. He was always planning the next adventure, and his fashion sense was the envy of many. Peter's refreshing irreverence was depicted in his witticisms and artwork. He took on subjects ranging from Bob Ross to Stalin, the Pope to Phil Collins, Ninja Turtles to Chuck Norris. He approached every situation with humor, levity, and genuine compassion. A quality his friends appreciated. We can take Peter's legacy to heart. We can accept our duty to bring to the world the same light and energy that Peter brought to us. We can share with everyone we encounter the love, humor and compassion he shared with us. Peter is survived by his mom Michaelann McChyrstal, (who proudly passed on her hair cowlicks gene) his dad, Douglas Bryner and his beautiful older sister Karly. Peter had two bonus parents to love him, David Pack and Susan Bryner. He is also survived by his electric pink rain pants, and seventy times seven heavy hearts of friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you buy Peter a 12- pack of PBR next time you see him.
