Obituary for George Cochran

George Cochran, 85, passed away Dec. 16, 2014, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Ore. He was born June 8, 1929, in Bryson City, N.C., to John Harly and Una (Rae) Cochran.

George completed school in Bryson City, though he resided most of his life in Parkdale, Ore. He married Louise Ellen (Walton). He was employed at Dee Mill and Hanel’s Mill and then started a timber contracting business.

Some of George’s interests were bowling, golfing and hunting. He also enjoyed buying, restoring and then reselling houses. He was also an active member of Parkdale Baptist Church.

George was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Cochran, and sons Doug Cochran and Duane Cochran.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Cochran, of Parkdale, Ore.; sons Dwight Cochran, of Parkdale, and Matt Cochran, of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Dianne Cochran, of The Dalles, Ore.; and daughter-in-law, Diana Cochran, of Portland. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Nicholas Cochran, of Portland, Rodan Atchley, of The Dalles, Carmen Cochran, of Portland, and April Levique, of Portland.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Anderson’s Tribute Center, followed by interment at Parkdale Cemetery, 6917 Allen Road, Parkdale, Ore.
