Condolences

Condolence From: Maija Yasui
Condolence: I will miss Susie's grace and infectious smile. I had the good fortune to grow up with Susie in Oak Grove. As cousins, our families did so much together, from beach trips to back yard picnics, trips to Cloud Cap and the coast. We played in the orchards, woods and pastures, along creeks and lakes. Susie was my younger sister Selma's best friend. I was always jealous of Susie because she had a burro and a horse,(pets that my father would never allow) and a collection of dolls with beautiful clothes that her mother Helen sewed.
Susie was such a happy little girl that grew into a beautiful, gracious woman.
I am so sorry for the loss her family and friends must feel. I thought if anyone could beat this disease it would be Susie, with the help of her family and great friend Delora Portner.
I will miss Susie's infectious smile, her courage and zest for life.

Condolence From: Carol Hukari Garibay
Condolence: Susie, you were always so put together from the first grade through high school. I often admired and tried to copy your style. Your imagination and determination led us in many childhood games. I remember riding bikes, playing chipmunks in the oak trees, taking photos while acting silly at Oak Grove Five slumber parties, and later your mom driving us to concerts in Portland. I was so shocked that she liked listening to your Chicago albums! You had a rich childhood...I wish I had stayed in touch after high school so I could have known you as an adult. I have loving memories of the times we shared, and hope that your family and other friends find comfort in their memories, too. Love from your old friend, Carol.

Condolence From: Bryan Mason
Condolence: Just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with the Bryant family. I worked with Sue at the Post Office for roughly 4 years and I enjoyed every minute of it. Sue was so fun to work with and she will be missed by so many of us at the Hood River Post Office. I just want to say thanks for the one time I got to stay at the beach house for 3 days because my family had so much fun in that little house. I will always remember that forever. Thanks again! Bryan

Condolence: I was saddened to hear about Susie's passing. Although I haven't seen her in a long time, I did work with her at the Post Office for 26 years. she was always friendly, knowledgeable, professional, funny and had a lot of Spunk and Sass. I know she will be missed and remembered fondly for the strong woman she was.

Condolence From: Mandy Hukari Budwill
Condolence: As part of the Oak Grove Five (Susie, Selma, Carol, Francie, Mandy), I have so many memories from childhood. Susie was a good friend from grade school through our last year at Wy’east. Playing at Oak Grove, riding bikes around the block, sleep overs, hanging out at each other's houses, Crag Rat Outings, driving jeeps through the orchard, passing notes at Wy'east, sealing wax, listening to the Beatles – Susie was part of the quilt of my childhood. It was so easy to lose touch as adults. Now I'm just remembering Susie with love. For her family, please know that your sister, wife, mom was a fun and loyal friend. She is remembered fondly.

Condolence: Susie, when we were kids you were one of my idols and best friends....you were so smart, so cute, so funny and so talented in so many ways. Adulthood sent us on separate journeys but I am so grateful thar we crossed paths occasionally over the years. I will always admire and remember you for your beauty and courage. You are now free of all earthly pain-and you will be deeply missed. Save me a spot on the softball team!

Condolence From: Savanna Hunt
Condolence: She was my one of my favorite aunts and over the years became a good friend. We never lived close - but were close through letters and phone calls. She was the one who got me excited to go to the mailbox. I felt that she was always thinking about me and after I had my daughter, about her. I am always going to miss our chats. I'm glad I have a box of letters I've saved from her that I will cherish forever.I'm so glad she was a part of my life. I Love you Aunt Sue and will look forward to the day that I can see you again!

Condolence From: Francie Fenwick LaMarche
Condolence: I have mixed emotions about Susie's passing, I'm glad she's no longer suffering with that awful cancer but I'm sad I didn't get to spend more time with her these last few months since we reconnected. But... I have the memories - playing store in the store, making chocolate milk shakes with Quik in a glass, galloping our horses, Tony & Tang, through the orchard with our homemade capes flapping and our plastic trumpets blaring. And we mustn't for get Deedee before Tony. Farewell for now my friend, you live on in my childhood memories and one day I'll see you again.

For Susis's family- my sincere condolences, may you find peace as time passes.
