Life Story for Larry "Fish" Lavern Fisher

Larry “Fish” Fisher, age 72, of Hood River, Oregon, passed away March 5, 2014 surrounded by those he loved. Larry was born January 31, 1942 in Hood River, Oregon to Mel and Lela Fisher. Larry began his elementary studies in the Hood River School District and finished his studies in the Gresham School District, graduating from Gresham High School. On January 10, 1961, he married Audrey Elaine Ryer.
Throughout the years, Larry resided in Gresham, Oregon, Hood River, Oregon and Surfside, Washington. He was owner and operator of the Tip Top Tavern and Fisher’s Inn for many years, and that allowed him to make many friends along the way. Larry was also a member of the Elks Club, Eagles, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion.
Larry enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, clam digging, splitting wood, card games, Bingo, and traveling. Of special interest Larry enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, Oregon Duck and Seattle Seahawk football games, watching old movies ( especially “007” and “The Three Stooges”), traveling to the casinos, relaxing at his beach house, and socializing and spending time with his family and friends. Larry’s favorite character was Goofy and his favorite food was lobster.
Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey, and his three sons and their wives Larry and Billie Fisher, Gary and Cathy Fisher, and Jerry and Lisa Fisher; and his dog Sugar. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Cory Fisher, Garrick Fisher, Katelyn Nishimoto, Courtney Fisher, Brennen Fisher, and Jazlinn Fisher; and his three great grandchildren, Rylend Fisher, Audrina Fisher, and Matthew Fisher. Larry is also survived by his brother Dennis Fisher.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Larry to the Hood River American Legion Post 22.
Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Anderson's Tribute Center 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Pastor John Blosser of Hood River Alliance Church will officiate, with fraternal rites by the Hood River Elks Lodge and interment to follow at Idlewilde Cemetery. A reception will follow the internment at the Elks Lodge (located at the corner of Cascade Avenue and Third Street Hood River, Oregon).
