My wonderful Aunt

When I remember my Aunt Wilda a smile comes to my face. I wish I could write well enough to convey how much I loved my Aunt. My memories of her are like when you came home from school as a kid and you opened the door and the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies filled you up; you just felt like “I’m home and I’m loved here”. When I would come and visit Aunt Wilda I remember the biggest, most wonderful hugs I ever had. It made you feel her love deep down in your soul. I knew she was happy to see me and just felt special to be wanted so much. The summers I spent with her and Merle, and all the Goe family as a kid were some of the happiest memories I had growing up. I thought the farm was the most wonderful place on earth, and it was because how Aunt Wilda made me feel when I was there. Aunt Wilda had a lot of spunk, and could be opinionated sometimes, but you knew how she felt, and could learn a lot if you were listening. She would bend my ears sometimes but I love listening to her, she taught me a lot about right and wrong. Her passion was great for her family; she would defend them with her life. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a strong woman, and her family was the better for it. When I would leave at the end of the summer or a vacation I would be in tears going down the driveway as a kid. I won’t forget her wonderful smile, her hugs, her yelling “Donny, you need to get that lawn mowed”, or, “you ate all those peaches”. She could get your attention real quick, her voice stood out above the others. I have in my heart wonderful memories of a most wonderful Aunt who marked a young boy’s life forever. I wish everyone had an aunt like Aunt Wilda, the world would be a much better place if they did.
