Irene Eleanor Peterson passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Hood River Care Center at the age of 93. Irene was born June 25, 1920 in Wyndmere, North Dakota to Elmer Martin & Ida Marie “Mary” (Nash) Springer.

Services are planned for 11:00am Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Anderson’s Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Ave. Hood River, Oregon 97031).

Irene grew up in Hood River and graduated from the local high school in the late 40’s. She then went on to work at Swigerts grocery store, the bakery that was once located in the Heights, worked for Diamond Fruit in the canning department and was a caregiver. She was a homemaker married to Henry Peterson and together they lived contently on a farm of 15 to 20 acres in Dee.

Irene enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Irene is survived and will be dearly missed by Chuck and his spouse Rose of Bloomfield, NM, Allen of Hood River, LeRoy and his spouse Patricia of Moro, Oregon. and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 1977 and her daughter, Judy K. Nelson.

Memorials are encouraged to be made in Irene’s name to cancer research per her request.
