Life Story for Robert "Bob" Lewis Hanel

Robert “Bob” L. Hanel, 72, of Hood River Oregon passed away on October 14th in his home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on August 21st, 1941 in Hood River Oregon to Sterling and Kathleen Hanel (Linley).

Bob married his wife Barbara Kay Hanel (Knox) on June 4th, 1992 at their home in Hood River Oregon. Bob lived his entire life in the Hood River Valley, where he enjoyed his family and friends, golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, and camping.

Bob was a successful business man serving as President of Hanel Development Group, Indian Creek Golf, LLC, HPC Properties, Inc., RLH Properties, ANPC, Highlands Development Inc., and Hanel Lumber Company.

Bob is survived by His wife Barbara Kay Hanel, his children Brad Hanel, Tyson Jacobs, and Tara Stewart and 4 grandchildren Tyler Freas, Dylan Jacobs, Trevor Jacobs, and Wyatt Stewart; his mother Kathleen Hanel, siblings William “Bill” Hanel, Janet Princehouse, and Jean Casey. Bob had 5 nephews and 1 niece.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Lewis Sterling Hanel and his wife Roxee Lynn Hanel (Benjamin).

Memorial Contributions can be made in Memory of Bob Hanel to Hospice of the Gorge or the Odell Lion’s Club.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday October 25th at the Hood River Valley Christian Church (975 Indian Creek Road).
