Condolences

Condolence From: Renee (Somers) Horton
Condolence: I will never forget the kindness that Sue showed me, as I walked into Azalea house in the fall of 1967 at OSU. She was my house "big sister" and she was so good to me. I will never forget the afternoon that we spent, walking the campus, with her taking me to each building where my classes were to be. Sue was so brilliant! She was quietly doing all of these complex math problems, while the rest of us were struggling with freshman English! I am so saddened by her passing, but for sure, the world is a better place because of her. Sue was my mentor! She will always be in my heart. Please know that I share in your sorrow.

Condolence: My heart is so sad that the world is short one more kind and caring person of Susan's caliber and accomplishments. She is the first friend I can remember from when I remembered anyone - I think we were 3 together. My photo albums are filled with wonderful pictures of her as a child, and even though we lived apart from the age of 15, our friendship endured. We were blood sisters from the 4th grade on (you know...cut your fingers, share the blood, bury a treasure to mark the occasion; that treasure is still buried and in my heart is a symbol of the never ending affection with which I will always think of Susan.)Her letters through the decades were always filled with news of her growing family of which she was rightfully so proud. And my favorite image of Susan will remain how she lifted her chin a little to laugh so softly and easily, as if the lifting of her chin would keep the laughter from spilling out too quickly, the better to savor the delightful moment for a longer time. My dear Susan, I will miss imagining you in the shadow of Mt Hood.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Susan’s passing. I too, was a Tillamook classmate of hers, and she was loved and respected by everyone who met her. I hope you can find peace in the wonderful life she has lived. I've uploaded 3 photos of Susan that were taken in 2006 at our 40th Class Reunion. She and Karalee were life-long friends and it was so much fun reminiscing about the old days and sharing stories about our families and life experiences. You have my sincere sympathy.

Condolence: Dear Family of Susan: I was a childhood friend of Susan. We first met when we were probably 4 years old in Sunday School! We went all the way through school together and graduated from high school in the same class! Susan was a brilliant lady and a wonderful lifetime friend. I will miss her and our whole class from Tillamook High School will miss her! We are so sorry for your loss. We feel you loss ourselves as we loved her also!
