Clyde Lee  Williams
Clyde Lee Williams passed away June 26, 2013 at the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Clyde was born July27, 1933 and was 79 years of age at the time of his passing.

A Celebration of Clyde’s life will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday July 6, 2013 at Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Pastor Jeff Mueller of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate.

Clyde was born in Langdon, Kansas the third of ten children to Marion and Ollie (Ninness) Williams. Clyde grew up in the Hood River Valley. He attended schools in Odell and Odell High School; he was the firs graduating class from Wy’East High School in 1952.

Clyde served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. The Oregon Honors Team will give thanks for his service by presenting military honors on Saturday at Clyde’s service.

On June 18th, 1955 Clyde married Dona Rae Van Riper in Hood River at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage and three children; Cindy, Tami & Larry.

Clyde worked at Safeway, Thriftway, Brock Glass Shop, Selby’s Appliance, part owner of Western Auto and recently he had worked in the Hood River Toll Booth. In addition to all this Clyde and Dona owned and operated the Paradise Motel and Apartments for 48 years.

Clyde enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, pool/billiards and he would raise two steers every year. He enjoyed working with youth in the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs for 32 years and was instrumental in starting the girl’s little league softball program.

In addition to the Hood River Little League and Babe Ruth leagues where Clyde was an active board member he was also a member of the Hood River Elks Lodge, the Hood River Sportsman Club and Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Clyde is survived by the love of his life, Dona Rae Williams of Hood River, Oregon; his three children, Cindy and husband, Mike Vanek of Parkdale, Oregon, Tami Siebert of Troutdale, Oregon and Larry Clyde and wife, Lisa Williams of Hood River, Oregon; six grandchildren, Steffany, Shelby, Adam, Tyler, Morgan & Hailee; sisters, Betty Gustafsen, Peggy Brittle, Donna Sanders; brothers, Tom Williams, John Williams and Tony Williams; and many dear cousins.

Memorials are encouraged to be made in Clyde’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church and The Hood River Little League.
