Life Story for Rosalyn Arnold

Rosalyn Stone Arnold, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2013.

Lyn was born on July 18, 1918, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She and her parents Jesse and Herbert Stone, and one brother, Herbert Stone, moved to Glendale, California when Lyn was still a young girl. She graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 1936 and attended business school at Occidental College.

She worked as a secretary for an optometrist for three years, and then for Bank of America for two years before joining the U.S. Marines in 1943. She quickly attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and met her future husband Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy, Howard Robert Arnold. They were married on July 7, 1944. Howard and Lyn had two children, Nancy Ann, born February 21, 1947, and Richard James, born August 26, 1948. Howard retired from the Navy in 1955, and the family moved to Hood River.

Lyn worked as the Admitting Clerk at Hood River Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She was very active at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and was the Directress of the St. Marks Altar Guild for several years. Her husband Howard passed away in March of 1990.

Lyn was a wonderful and loving Mother and Grandmother, and will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her two children, Richard Arnold and Nancy Moore, six grandchildren --Stephanie Mason, and her husband Jeff , Elizabeth Durant and her husband Tony, Nathan Baker and his wife Lara, Jacob Arnold and his wife Jessica Han, Nicholas Arnold and his partner Brian Burke, and Meredith Arnold and Harvey Anton. Her six great grandchildren are Mackenzie Mason, Travis Mason, Hannah Wicklander, Dugan Wicklander, Dyllan Arnold, and Lola Anton

Services to honor and celebrate Rosalyn's life are planned for Wednesday, June 5th at Anderson's Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, Oregon). Rev. Anna Carmichael of St. Mark's Episcapol Church officiating. Graveside Rites will take place Friday, June 7th at Willamette National Cemetery of Portland, Oregon.

Donations may be made to the St. Marks Altar Guild.
