Obituary for James Edwin "" Jim "" Rosenback

James Edwin "" Jim "" Rosenback
James “Jim” Edwin Rosenback, passed away March 15th, 2013 at the Portland Veterans Medical Center. Jim was born May 22, 1948 in Hood River, Oregon to Carl Henry and Dorothy Maxine (Goodrich) Rosenback. He was 64 years of age at the time of his passing.

Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 at Cascade Locks Community Church (5 SW Benson Avenue, Cascade Locks, Oregon) with interment and military honors to follow at the Cascade Locks Cemetery.

Jim grew up in Cascade Locks where he attended school and high school. In 1965 he enlisted and served with honor during the Viet Nam War in 173rd Airborne Division. It was in a fire fight near Plae Ku and Dac Toe that he was wounded; it wasn’t too bad so they patched him up and sent him back to the front line. Well, as luck would have it there was another fire fight and he again was wounded. He received two purple hearts and a bronze star and as his brother John shared “you don’t get a bronze star for just sittin around”. Jim was hardcore and proud of his service for our country; he was honorably discharge in 1968 at the rank of Sergeant.

After Viet Nam, Jim made his way back to the Pacific Northwest living in Vancouver, Washington, he visited the local VA Medical Center for his medical issues and ultimately ended up working for the VAMC both in Vancouver and later in Portland and retired after 20 years there.

He maintained his friends from his youth and collected many others over the years. Jim and friends would meet at the McMenamins Edgefield Lodge as part of their “Breakfast Club - Royal Order of BBB” where they shared in food, fellowship and a bit of “BS” he will be missed by all who called him a friend.

Jim is survived by his sister, Gayle K. Darr (and her husband, Jim) of Hillsboro, Oregon and brother, John Rosenback of Gresham, Oregon and a host of friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Please visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for family.
