Frances Elizabeth Hankins, passed away peacefully, February 17, 2013 in Hood River, Oregon.
Frances was born in Glentworth, Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Marie Schmidt Agopsowicz on May 31, 1922; she was 90 years of age at her passing.
On August 23, 1943 she married Clell Hankins in Edmonton, Calgary. They moved from Canada to Missouri with stays in Louisiana, Nevada and Texas before moving to Oregon. Clell passed away in 1996.
Frances worked for Luhr-Jensen, local packing houses and retail stores in Hood River over the years as well as being an active wife and mother. She loved to play bingo, do crossword puzzles, sew, work in her garden, read and have lunch with friends. Frances always followed Mariner’s baseball.
Frances is survived and will be dearly missed by her five children Don Hankins of Clinton, Louisiana, Betty (and husband, Dave) Thomas of Hood River, Oregon, Barbara Purdie of Parkdale, Oregon, Lydia (and husband, Mike) Kimlinger of Salem, Oregon and Lani (and wife, Nadine) Hankins of Lincoln City, Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, 3 brothers and a granddaughter.
A celebration of Frances’s life for will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, the 23rd of February, 2013 at Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. Pastor Bruce Parker of First Baptist Church will officiate.
